Great Wakering soccer legend Les Stubbs enjoyed one of the great days of his illustrious career on Saturday when he mingled with the millionaire soccer stars of Premiership Chelsea.
Les, now in his mid 70s, was a striker "or inside forward in those days" with the London side when they last won the Football League championship 50 years ago.
On that occasion the Chelsea team were unable to celebrate their triumph in front of the Stamford Bridge faithful with the trophy as they only achieved it with a final day win over Sheffield Wednesday.
So, when manager Jose Mourinho's men clinched their latest glory, and it was decided that the Premiership crown should be presented at Saturday's home game with Charlton, it was decided that the limelight should be shared with the "Class of 55".
Les and wife Jean were picked up from their Wakering High Street home by a chauffeur driven car and taken to the London club's ground.
After a buffet, Les and his playing colleagues from the Fifties watched Footballers of the Year Frank Lampard and John Terry help Chelsea beat the Addicks 1-0.
